Christmas is almost upon us and as books have been our salvation throughout 2020, I decided to give my readers a little treat with a novella in the Peak District Cosy Mystery series, featuring the irrepressible, octogenarian Edna Reid, resident sleuth of the Hope Valley.
Packed with snow, twinkly lights, mince pies, things that go bump in the night , and breath-holding run to the climax of the story.
Novellas are shorter than novels - 30,000 words on average compared with 80,000 for a novel. The plot needs to be tight, characterisation sharp, and the pace fast. There's no room for padding or too much reflection.
It will be self-published in time for curling up on the sofa on Christmas Eve. Watch this space!
